Thalavadi (also spelled Talavady / Talavadi) is a taluk in Erode District, Tamil Nadu, formed on 8 March 2016 by bifurcation from Sathyamangalam Taluk. The taluk headquarters is Thalavadi town (PIN 638461, STD 04295).
The taluk occupies a sparsely populated, forested area on the Tamil Nadu–Karnataka border where the Eastern and Western Ghats meet. Large parts lie within or adjacent to the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve — one of India's most ecologically vital protected areas.
Thalavadi sits at 823 m above sea level. The famous Dhimbam Ghat — with 27 named hairpin bends — provides the primary road link. Dense Nilgiri Biosphere forests surround the plateau, making it one of Tamil Nadu's most scenic and ecologically sensitive landscapes.
Culture reflects a borderland blend of Kannada and Tamil traditions. Local festivals include Pongal, the historic Chaniyadi and temple festivals. Lingayatism is an important faith community across several villages.
